The Mission Field
As a Southern Baptist church, we are very involved in the outreach of our community locally and mission abroad. We have always had a high focus on reaching people for Christ, through active work in our community and financial support for foreign missions. We are dedicated to carrying out Jesus's commission to his disciples in Matthew 28:19-20,
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
Here are some of the ways that we support missions.
- We give 10.5% of our receipts in tithes and offerings to missions. We have designated this portion of our funds in order to provide for those who are carrying the gospel to places that we can't reach.
- We support church planting in Southern New Jersey through the Potter/Legette mission fund, and we are very active in the mission of the South Jersey Baptist Association of churches (see the link to their webpage on the left menu bar) .
- We support our Southern Baptist International, North American, State and Associational missions programs to take the message of Jesus Christ around the world through the SBC Cooperative Fund.
- We have helped start and mentor many churches in the area such as Sonrise Community Fellowship in Delair, NJ. and a Vietnamese Baptist church fellowship in Philadelphia PA. We are continually looking for new opportunities to participate in mission action projects.
- We plan and provide community outreach events like summer block parties and similar evangelistic events.
We believe in missions, support missions, teach missions, and do missions.
